Origins is a monthly on-line news magazine published by the Public History Initiative and eHistory. In each issue of Origins, an historian analyzes a particular current issue - political, cultural, or social - in a larger, deeper historical context. In addition to the analysis provided by each month's feature, Origins includes images, maps, graphs and other material to compliment the essay. Origins helps readers understand the world more fully, and prompts them to think, debate, and learn, making us all more informed and engaged citizens. Origins is aimed at a general readership, but is especially targeted to teachers, both as a classroom resource and as vehicle for their own professional development.
